You are invited to join the REA-Retired Chapter

REA retired members have one lifetime fee. When you become an REA retired member, you retain your IEA-NEA membership for life as well. The sign up form is provided as a link to a  PDF to print out and mail in (below). Many retiring IEA members are approached by IRTA (Illinois Retired Teachers Assoc.), click on this link for a flyer outlining some of the differences between the two organizations. If it doesn’t begin with IEA, it isn’t us!

Some ways IEA-Retired Chapters and Members can Work with Regions and Locals

  • Political action, lobbying, meeting with legislators, contacting legislators, recommendation meetings, attending events in Springfield (especially when active members are at work)
  • Help with School Board and legislative elections, poll watchers
  • Keep active leaders informed about retirement issues and preparing to retire concerns
  • Provide training in areas of specialty
  • Assist with or coordinate community service projects and other activities for local and regions
  • Serve as a retired representative and retired volunteer coordinator on local association councils
  • Assist with crisis and strike activities
  • Attend school board meetings and pack the place events
  • Run for and serve on school boards
  • Assist with fundraising events for scholarships and special projects
